Description:
Meet Katie! Poor Katie was found abandoned with her litter mates up in Northern Minnesota and was taken in by a caring woman who has asked us to her find Katie a loving home. Katie was found when she was about five months old so she had minimal to no contact with humans in her early months of life - she is slowly coming out of her shell and learning to trust people. She also had a case of puppy Demodectic Mange, which is fairly common in young pups that had a lack of quality puppy care and is not contagious. Katie went to the vet 8/12/08 and she is now clear of mange. Katie has been in her loving foster home for a while now and she is being loved and well taken care of but she would really like to find herself a forever home. She has overcome so much and now she just wants a loving home to call her own. Do you have room in your heart and home for this little girl? 5/15/08: This is what Katie's original rescue mom had to say about her: Katie gets along with other dogs and cats very well. She enjoys being outside walking and hunting for small critters. She can swim well and acts like a lab as far as retrieving sticks from the water. She has a calm energy level. She enjoys naps in the warm sun. She is a bit of a thief. She will take things that you might set on the ground that you are using for gardening or whatever it may be - shoes too. She likes to grab and run! She sleeps on the floor by my bed at night and is really quiet and calm until morning. She spends more time outside right now than inside so she may need monitoring for house training if indoors full time. She is a bit shy with new people, but she is greatly motivated by food which is a good tool to gain her trust. 7/21/08: Update from Katie's current foster mom: Katie is getting to be quite the motorboat in the water; she can swim so fast. Katie is now able to retrieve the tennis ball before Spenser, the resident canine friend, can get to it. Katie gets to the ball first and then swims back as far as Spenser is and gives the ball to him and then he brings it into shore! Isn't that the sweetest thing Please feel free to fill out an Adoption Application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
