Description:

MEET KATY:

Katy is just a doll with people and is always happy to hand out kisses and love.  She will make herself right at home when you take her on a car ride.

Katy gets along well with her 2 doggie foster sisters, but would do best as an only dog or with a submissive male dog in the home.

Katy has had a cancerous tumor removed without a reoccurrance and completed treatment for Heartworm.   She will need to be on heartworm preventative monthly for the rest of her life.   She is a warrior princess for overcoming all of her medical obstacles and is so ready to enjoy the rest of her life.

  • House training -   Katy is completely housetrained - Once Katy learned our routine over the first week she has not had any accidents since.

  • Kennel training - We have not used a kennel with Katy. She has free reign of the house. However, she needs proper dog chews available to her to keep herself busy or she will find and chew things she shouldn't.  (Shoes & stuffed toys should be kept out of her reach)

  • Is she good with the other dogs?  Katy has been great with our dogs for the most part but like all sisters have their spats at times.  Katy is a dominant female and does best with a submissive male or female if there is another dog in the home.  At the dog park, she meets other dogs calmly, then likes to run and play with the other dogs for a bit.

  • Is she good with cats?  We haven't had her around any cats.

  • Is she good with kids?  Katy has been around elementary age kids and was patient while 4 neighbor girls all crowded around her to pet her. She has also been around my 4 year old niece/nephew and did not pay much attention to them.

  • Does she know any commands?  Katy knows to sit, lay down and shake.

  • How is she on leash? Katy will need work on this as she does pull when on the leash. With the cold weather we haven't been able to spend time working on this.

  • Is she a big barker? Katy barks when we get home, before we enter the house. Other than that she will bark if she hears another dog barking and they are both outside. She doesn't bark obssessively or more than you would expect.

Please show Katy that the world is an amazing place and decide to share your
life with her. She is sure to be a joy in your life.

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
