Description:

Meet Peter!

* One-half of a bonded sibling pair

* Would do best in a home without a resident dog, or with a submissive dog

Petie and Sammi were taken from their home by Police due to neglect. They are siblings and have been together all of their lives so we would like to keep them together.

Petie and Sammi are great dogs and do very well together.  Due to the fact they are older dogs, they are very content to sit on the couch and spend time with their people.  Sammi likes the outdoors more than Petie, while Petie likes the couch more than Sammi.

Since coming to their foster home, they have learned kennel-up and house training.  They come when called and understand the word “no”.  They ride in the car nicely, walk fairly well on the leash and mind fairly well over all.

Both dogs will bark when people or bikes or runners pass by the fenced yard.  Sammi has more of a hound-bark and Petie has a lower-bark.  Not nervous barkers, only to alert.

Petie just LOVES going for walks and the excitement is just bubbling up in him waiting for us to get ready. He also likes to play with squeaky toys.  Check out a cute video of him playing.  Although he will squeak the toy all the way up to bed once there he leaves it alone and just sleeps with it no noise.

He still has the jack Russell playfulness in him but also is content just snuggling with you.

Petie has challenged the dominant dog for authority, however, he is in the process of learning that he is not the alpha dog in the foster home.  Both dogs are affectionate (Pete is reserved initially) and easy to care for.  They will interact with their people and would make amazing pets.  Because of their more sedentary demeanor, they may not be the best match for an active family with small kids.

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
