Description:

Hi! My name is Sherri and I came up to Minnesota from Houston, Texas in September of 2017. I was pretty stressed by the time I arrived, but I’ve decided that living in a home with people to throw my ball and lots of cushy things to lay on is really the life for me!

I am housetrained and will let you know by acting REALLY excited when I need to go out. I am not crate trained because I am not destructive in the house and don’t have accidents. I am very food motivated so training has been easy as long as my foster mom has treats! I currently live with two medium/large foster brother dogs and two very sassy foster sister cats. I am very respectful of the cats and don’t chase them or bark at them! My foster family tells me I’m a “good girl” all the time. I’m learning that means lots of pets and luvins!

Like a typical shepherd, I am very loyal to my family and will bark at strangers the first time they come in the house but am not aggressive -- just letting you know “I got my family’s back!” My ideal home would be a home that is looking for a healthy mix of cuddles and activity. When I arrived in Minnesota I was heartworm positive, so I spent the first several months on exercise restriction. That meant, lots of laying around and snuggling. To my foster mom’s surprise, even though I was bored, I was never destructive in the house. Now, I’m easing back into exercise and could chase a ball for hours (if my foster mom didn’t say we need to take it slow!) I also love walks and, in time, think I would like jogging or running too! I would do best in a home with another confident dog.
As much as I love my foster home, I’m really looking forward to meeting my forever family even more!

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
