Meet Lassie!

This beautiful girl is looking for a new home. Lassie was surrendered to rescue when the the other dog in the home was not being nice to her. She has been well taken care of and medical has always been kept up to date.

Lassie is a mix of australian shepherd and sheltie -both herding breeds.

She's FANTASTIC in the house-she just wants to lounge around, she's not a shadow dog that follows you, she just hangs out. She does know basic commands and she has excellent manners when it comes to waiting to be commanded to enter the house after potty and waiting to be told to come in a room.

She did not even seem to notice the cat when he came into the room, is great with the kids and slept on the couch the whole night long like she's been here a long time instead of just one night!

Lassie is very attached to her leash! She will often carry it in her mouth and loves to have it next to her when she's sleeping or laying around.

She is doing OK with the resident dog, but does seem guarded when he comes near her food or leash. They are very calm and fine together when they are in the same room, but she gets nervous when he comes close. This could be due to her surrender situation where the resident dog was not nice to her. Because of this, Lassie would do best in a home with no other dogs or a dog that will respect her bubble initially until she is comfortable. *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
