Description:
Meet Gabbie! Gabbie has had a "ruff" life. Gabbie and her siblings were taken away from their owner due to neglect. They all had mange, had lost their hair and were emaciated. Fortunately these poor dogs were rescued from that terrible life. Due to the horrid conditions and poor nutrition, Gabbie has lost many of her front teeth. Gabbie's siblings have all gone to their forever homes. Now all that's left is poor Gabbie. She can't understand why she has not had her turn to find her forever family. Gabbie has been in rescue for quite a while. Her original rescue has asked for help from MARS to find her a home. Gabbie is one of the sweetest most loving girls you could meet. She likes to give hugs and loves belly rubs and LOTS of attention. So she is just praying for a family that will be able to give her those things!! Can you help this poor girl in need? She'd love you forever! UPDATE FROM GABBIE'S FOSTER: Gabbie is an absolute sweet heart! She is getting along fine with my two large dogs, she growled a little the first night but my younger one comes on pretty strong. She actually played a little with them this morning, so that was good to see. The emergency foster that had her one night said she got along wonderful with his two young boys (I’d guess in the 6 & 10 year old range). Haven’t seen her with any cats. She LOVES rawhides and treats, when she gets a rawhide she just lays down on the spot and doesn’t move until it’s gone. So her loss of some front teeth isn’t holding her back at all – she’s eating hard food. If you walk by where she’s laying and make any eye contact she will roll over and wait for a belly rub. There have been absolutely no accidents in the house – I kenneled her yesterday while I was at work, but left her out last night. I even felt brave enough to leave her out today, but I really don’t expect any messes. I have a chair that I let dogs lay on and she found that right away. She was laying in it last night while I was watching TV and snoring away! Gabbie would be perfect for a first time dog owner – she would love to take a walk, but certainly doesn’t require one. She is a snuggle bunny, already house trained and just loves to be by you. She’d be fine with another dog, but I think Gabbie would adore being the only canine in the house so she can get all the love! Please feel free to fill out an Adoption application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
