Description:

Meet Ulric!

Ulric has the most wonderful disposition.  Like most young Labradors, he is a happy outgoing guy, and interested in everything going on around him.

He has the most beautiful eyes, lighter colored, almost silvery.  He is much taller than his brother Merek, and darker colored yellow, with a white diamond right on his forehead and a white tip on his tail.  The vet said he would get to about 60 pounds at one year old.

He sleeps all night, mostly  on his bed on the floor, but he sometimes sneaks up into the people bed.

He is doing pretty well on his housetraining—he’ll do his business outside if you get him out there at the proper times.

He walks well on a leash.  He has been crated a little, and doesn’t seem to mind it.

He gets along with big and small dogs at his foster home. He gives the cats a wide berth. When you let him outside, he gets the zoomies, and goes nuts running and playing with his brother and the other dogs.

Ulric has the potential to be a hunting dog—he looks up and watches birds flying, and chases some of the lower flying ones.  He also follows scents with his nose,  and it is hard to get him to quit a scent. He SERIOUSLY likes to chase chickens, and has caught a few and held them down and started plucking them. If you enjoy upland game hunting or duck/goose hunting, this dog shows some natural talent and interest.

He is very athletic, likes to run, swim, and play.  He will need a fair bit of exercise, and with training he will be a fantastic dog.

Because of his start in life and the fact he didn’t have much/any contact with people for the first few months, he is pretty shy at first.  It takes him awhile to get comfortable in new situations and around people.  He spent the first few days at his foster home under the bed, but by the third day he was laying on top of the bed like he owned it.

Once he knows he can trust you-- he will be a pretty typical puppy, giving hugs and kisses, snuggling, playing with toys and bones.  You’ll want to puppy proof your house, because he likes to chew and get into things!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
