Description:
Aberdeen, also known as Sadie, was dropped off at a shelter. We don’t know her backround and it does not look like she had any kind of luxury in her past life, but that will change now that she is in rescue!
This girl is in surprisingly good shape considering her initial appearance! Her vision and hearing seem to be very good, and because she is a hound, her sense of smell is excellent. Despite some cuts on her back leg, and scrapes and bruises, she does not seem to show any arthritis, and she has a smooth walking gate. She surprised her foster mom with her relative strength and good energy level. She is not going to be a jogging partner but she would definitely like to walk with people and explore the world. Aberdeen is quiet in general, but not scared of people—she is very curious about the world and everything in it. She is not the dog for someone who wants a dog to lay at a distance and not interact with them very much, because she really wants to be part of things in the house. She is not pushy but likes to be near her person and see what they are doing, and if they need any help from a nice dog. She loves it when you talk to her and tell her what you are doing and what is on the agenda for the day. And if she stays nearby and you feel like patting a nice dog on the head and saying “Good girl,” that is just what she is hoping for. She does not bark very often, especially for a hound, but she does bark on occasion and probably not a good fit for a place with shared walls. She is a good car passenger, just lays down and snoozes. She is just a very sweet dog who is looking for soft beds, good food, loving conversations, and interesting life activities. Her face looks sad in her photos but she’s not—in fact she is a frequent tail-wagger! Someone is going to be very lucky to have the chance to spoil this nice girl and show her the good life!
*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
