Description:
Ada, aka Molly, is an extremely sweet dog and does very good with other dogs. The foster family she is staying with has 4 resident dogs and she loves to run and play with them in the yard. She would do fine in a home with another dog who likes to play or in a home as the only dog. She is good on a leash and loves to go for long walks several times a day. She has a keen eye for squirrels and rabbits, and the occasional deer, when on a walk given her breed as a hunting dog but quickly returns to her walk when spoken to. She understands the word “no” well and quickly adapts. She loves toys and usually is carrying one around with her. She is a very active dog and would love an owner who will take her on long walks or to the doggy park. Molly sleeps at night curled up on the bed next to you throughout the night and loves to cuddle on the couch with her foster family when they are lounging or watching TV. She sometimes thinks she is a lap dog. Other times she will curl up in one of the doggie beds on the floor. She goes to the door when she needs to be let outside to do her business. When she gets up in the morning, she does want to be let out immediately to go.

Molly came to her foster family with some basic training needs and is making very good progress daily with obedience training. She was initially curious as to what was in the garbage can or on the top of the counter in the kitchen but quickly learned these two areas are off limits. Continued training and positive reinforcement should be practiced by her adopter family to let her know these areas are off limits. She learns very quickly! She initially darted out the door a few times when she first came to her current foster family but has since discontinued this behavior. Caution should be exercised when entering or exiting the house when she is first adopted until she knows she is at home. She can run really fast and while she has not run away when she has escaped, she does give you a run for your money. She was a digger in the yard if left unattended when she first came to her foster family but stops immediately when corrected. She has learned this behavior is unacceptable through discipline and having an ample supply of toys available for her to play with has deterred her from digging or finding plants in the yard to play with. She loves to be outside and a fenced yard is highly desirable for her forever home.

She is a bit shy when meeting new people at first but quickly warms up once she knows she can trust you. When she first came to stay with her current foster family she would hesitate to come or duck when petted but after about 3 days she was their best friend following them everywhere and butting her head under their hands to be petted. She will bark when someone she does not know comes in the house but within 5 minutes she settles down and wants to be in their lap. Molly is crated when left alone as is advised with all dogs in new situations. She does cry and whine for about 10 minutes after being crated but settles down after that so a shared wall living arrangement is not recommended. She is a very curious dog with items on the floor so clothes and shoes should not be left around. She has not chewed anything in the house but does think items on the floor are toys and carries them around. She is a very good passenger in the car. She sometimes sits in the passenger seat and looks out the window but usually she is reclined across the back seat. Molly has been around children. Her previous foster family had children staying with them and she loved their company. Small children might not be ideal as she is very active and might knock them over in her playful moments. She loves to be brushed and sits and rolls as you brush her. It’s almost as if she wants to make sure you don’t miss any spots with the brush. She is okay to have her nails clipped; however, it helps to have one person hold her while the other person clips them. She is also good in the bathtub. Ada, aka Molly, is looking for her forever home to love and be loved and become all that she can be. Is that home yours?

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
