Description:
My name is  Hansel and I am handsome...or at least quite cute.  No one know for sure who my parents were but the best guess is that one was a Rottweiler and the other was large and shaggy!!  I was a stray and ended up in a shelter.  They loved me there and they even let me hang out with them in the cat room by the desk.

I am a really nice boy and a nice lady adopted me just yesterday....but then she returned me today and the shelter says they are full.  They had to squeeze me into this really little kennel.  I guess the lady who adopted me didn't like the way I cornered one of her cats.  She was afraid because I am so big I might play too rough and hurt him.  Darn it-I was having some fun.  I am usually really good with cats and I didn't pester the other two cats she had.  Well anyway, the shelter wants to see me find a foster home so I don't have to be in such a small space.  I really am fun and I will look to you just waiting for you to tell me what you want me to do...like sit or lay.  And if you introduce me to your cats slowly I will try not to get so excited.
Look what my foster family says about me!!!

Hansel is such a sweet boy. He gets along very well with the other 3 dogs in the house ranging from 15 lbs to 160 lbs. He knows how to sit, lay down, give paw, and come. We are working on walking on a leash -he walks best with a harness. He does jump on people when he gets excited but stops with a firm "No Get Down" and does not do that very much. He follows me around the house and is always by my side.

He loves to roll around in the grass and enjoys being outside. He  is very well behaved inside. At night, he seems to not be able to sleep unless he is in his kennel.  As soon as I open his kennel, he goes inside and goes to sleep.  When I say "kennel", he goes right in and does not whine or cry. The only time he is in a kennel is at night so he can sleep.

He is house broken and has not even attempted to go to the bathroom in the house. He is a great dog who just wants to be with a loving family. He is good with men, women, and children although due to his size, be cautious with children. You can pull on his ears, hair, legs, and bother him all day and he would not mind. He is so mellow and well behaved. He is not a big fan of water but does well when given a bath. He also doesn't mind being brushed. He doesn't shed at all and is very low maintenance.

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
