Description:

Hayden, or "Bear", as we call him..is a very sweet and gorgeous German Shepherd Dog. He is house trained, crate trained, very friendly, affectionate, and well-mannered. He walks nicely on the leash, gets along well with other dogs and cats, rides nice in the car, and is great with children. He is fun to have around, likes to follow us everywhere we go, and really loves attention. This is a perfect dog and would transition very easily with anyone.

UPDATE FROM HAYDEN'S ADOPTIVE HOME, JULY 19TH, 2011:

We are SO HAPPY with Hayden (or "Bear" as we've named him)!! He is really the
perfect dog. He listens beautifully, doesn't ever run off (he has the run of our
yard and we rarely leash him - only on walks and runs), and he has learned to swim
and loves to fetch tennis balls both in and out of the lake. We worked with him so
that he is no longer so "mouthy," especially with the kids (though he does still
communicate with me by gently mouthing my hands from time to time, which I don't
mind, and it seems to keep him happy). His cutest quirk is that he loves to drag
out an item of clothing of mine or another member of our family's and "cuddle" with
it when we're not home with him (see first photo of him with my mitten). He doesn't
chew or destroy anything... just hangs out with a few things that remind him of us.
:)

We did find out that he had worms from our vet, so we worked with her to get that
cleared up (poor guy was under the weather for a while), and now he is back to being
a happy, affectionate, playful sweetheart. He eats 4 cups of "Royal Canin - German
Shepherd" brand food daily at 6:00 (he made this schedule and it's working for all
of us), and he gets taken for a daily run, weather permitting, with my husband, so
his coat is shiny, soft and beautiful and he is staying trim and healthy. He has
also learned to jump from our pontoon boat, swim with the kids, and then climb the
ladder back into the boat without assistance! We couldn't be happier with him, and
I think he's having a lot of fun with us, too!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
