Woof, woof!  My name is Sailor!  I'm a foster puppy looking for my own "forever family".  One day, I got lost and couldn't find my way back home.  My previous mom and dad didn't know where I went so Midwest Animal Rescue agreed to take me in.  They found a foster family to take care of me until I find my "forever home" which I know will be any day now!

When I got to my foster family, I was pretty scared.  I was so hungry and just exhausted from being poked and prodded.  I spent a lot of time sleeping and it took me a little while to get my appetite back.  After about a week, though, I started to realize that my new life is pretty darn cool.  I have a foster sister who is really fun to play with and she even shares her toys with me.  I get to go outside and play all the time, especially with the neighbor kids.

Even though my name is Sailor, they call me "Say" or "Say-Say", which my foster mom says is a nickname.  I've never had one of these nickname things before but I figure they can call me whatever they want as long as they keep tossing me tennis balls and scratching behind my ears!

Sometimes my foster dad tells me it's time for training. I LOVE training and get really excited for it!  It's so easy:  they tell me to do something like "kennel", "come", "sit" or "stay" and I do it.  Then I get a treat!  I'm telling you, this is the best arrangement in the world!  Every once in a while, they throw in a new word for me but they always show me how to do it so that I can get my treat.  My foster dad says that if I keep this up we get to start doing "tricks" pretty soon.  I'm not sure what those are, but if it's anything like the rest of my training, I can't wait!

In the mornings, after I go potty outside, eat and play with my foster sister, my foster mom has to go to work.  She puts a nice comfy pillow at the bottom of my kennel, tells me to go in there and gives me a treat before she leaves.  Sometimes I let her know that I wish I had a little more time to play, but usually it's just nice to have a comfy and safe place inside my kennel where no bad things can get me.  Even though my foster mom and dad have to work longer hours sometimes, I always wait for them to get home before I go outside and pee.  This makes them so happy, but seems pretty obvious to me.  After all, I don't want to get my pretty white fur full of icky stuff!  It's hard enough when the wet stuff comes down from the sky and does that!

Living with my foster family is great, but I know I can't stay here forever.  I'm only 2 (at least that's what they tell me) so I have a lot of life and love left in me for whatever kids, cats, dogs, reptiles, humans or other living beings that want to be my friends and my forever family!  I promise, you won't regret it!

Woof, Roof and Grunt (yes, I grunt),

Sailor

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
