Description:
Meet Cadence! Cadence and his brother Toivo are on their way here from an animal control facility down south, where they were just waiting to be rescued. These boys have a sad tale to tell..... Cadence has no physical signs of abuse, but his brother, Toivo, has been horribly abused (being the "bad" dog) and is now recovering from his injuries. Toivo has a lump on the back of his neck that is an abscess that resulted from human hands literally attempting to wring his neck. Injury location and supporting evidence has led the vet to the implication that someone both tied the dog's neck with a rope as well as grasped him around his neck and slung him back and forth, repeatedly and violently. The injury is roughly one month old which was just prior to his arrival at impound. At the time the dog was taken in, the vet's assessment was that he was reeling with pain. Cadence is a wonderful trusting boy who looks after his brother. What a loving and special boy he is to care so much about his brother! We love you Cadence!! The key to Toivo's happiness may lie in his brother, Cadence who is friendly beyond words. If Cadence moves, Toivo follows. If Cadence trusts, Toivo allows himself to trust. Toivo needs to learn that not all humans are monsters and Cadence helps him with this. These boys will be staying in the same foster home while Toivo heals but we are not requiring them to be adopted into the same home. Either of these sweet boys would make a great addition to any family! Cadence appears to be the older of the two, weighing 18 lbs. He loves attention and has a great time playing with his brother. He'll growl if a dog gets to close to him while eating or chewing a rawhide, but has no aggresion when I pet him while eating or take away the chewy to assert my dominance. He walks well on leash and waits for me to exit the house first when going for walks. Hold on to the leash tight if he sees a rabbit! He has been altered. He is house trained. He'll be microchipped this coming week. He barks very little. Please feel free to fill out an Adoption Application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
