Description:
Meet Heather! Heather was sitting in a cold cell in a HIGH KILL shelter. We desperately needed to get her out of there before her DEADline. Heather is a very sweet little girl who is very thin and was getting thinner by the day. This girl was so scared in the shelter that she would not eat. She needed to get into a nice warm loving home and have some good food so that she could put her weight back on. She now has a wonderful loving foster home and here is a note from her new foster mom: She is just the sweetest girl. She crates well. Proudly walks around the house with a kong or bone. Gives kisses freely. She wags her tail all the time and has to walk around with something in her mouth and prance around the house, then she lays down. She chases balls, grabs the rope toy and wrestles with it while making noises, chew on the toys and if they fling out of her mouth she chases after them. She really likes the nylabones. She is always taking Zoe's toys. She is getting used to the routine and went in to the kennel by herself today (she loves the kong). She is getting better about getting her feet wiped and going in the tub to get cleaned off when she needs it. Yesterday she came out to the living room with my little bottle of bubble bath that sits on the bathroom floor. I just laughed. She just needed to find something to bring with her. She gets my mittens out the basket by the back door. She is getting quite the personality. She is a great sized dog with a great personality especially shepard/lab mix. Lays down while I get ready for work or hangs outside. My neighbors purposely open their side door because she will stand there and watch them. Wags her tail for everything including getting her toe nails clipped yesterday. She laid down and tried to sleep at the vet too. Everyone who meets her talks about how cute she is. And her ears will make you laugh. She is a puppy. She will play bite and take off with my socks, gloves etc. She jumps up a lot and just needs basic obedience. She even does well when Zoe and I have to leave and she stays behind. The only problem I can find is that she is a car chaser and I see her running for the back yard and its because she hears a car. She walks well on a leash unless there is a car near then she is stalking the car to see how she can catch it. I highly recommend a completely fenced in yard for Heather's forever home. Please feel free to fill out an AdoptionApplication on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
