Description:

Meet Groot!

***Groot will be only 2 months old on March 14 and cannot be left alone for more than 3 hours at a time, even with another dog in the house.
He will need to be let outside and get lots of socialization and human contact.   Groot will need someone who is home most of the time or has a plan in place for his care.  ***

Update from the foster home:

Well, this puppy has won the cake for being a super star! This past Saturday (3/21) Groot received his second set of vaccinations. It is a puppy turning point because now he can be placed on the ground in low risk areas. For him that just means that he started potty training outside this weekend. I don't know how to describe Groot because his personality is subtle, so my bond with him is more personal. The memory below just happened. Hopefully it will give you an idea of how your intuition will soon be the voice of Groot's body language.

The remaining 4 puppies have started working on their commands, solo kennel training and potty training. With the recent snow fall, I'm writing this on Tuesday 3/24, I have already gotten a little lazy about leashing all of them and going outside each time they have to do their business. They are mostly puppy pad trained so I set up a few pads inside and have been leading them there when I don't want to go out.

So far the puppies have only done their business outside since this morning. I set up the pads for them to relieve themselves at their leisure while they play and I clean. Right away I noticed two things: Groot had to go badly and he was avoiding the puppy pads. He kept running away toward the back door every time I placed him on top of them! Puppies don't generally "talk" until they are a bit older but I am pretty sure he was telling me to take him outside. I listened. The moment Groot's feet hit the snow he scouted out the right spot and did his #1 & #2. Just like that. Attaboy!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
