Description:

Meet Jayda! She is an awesome girl who lost her family due to no fault of her own. Her family lost their home and couldnt find anywhere to rent that would allow them to keep their dogs. Jayda was well loved and treated well. Jayda is energetic and playful. She loves all other large dogs but her previous family tells us that she did not do well with little dogs or cats.

Wont you be her new forever family and make sure she continues to know love for the rest of her life?

Foster Update:
Jayda has adjusted well into our family. We have a male Shepherd age 5, a female Shepherd age 5 and a female Shepherd age 7. As I told you the introduction went well.

Jayda is a quick and willing student. She has learned to sit outside the kitchen while the dog meals are prepared and has also learned to wait for her turn of the food bowl being put down for her to eat. She sits on top of the stairs until being invited to come down and has learned to "front sit " and wait until her name is called to go outside to go potty.

Jayda is energetic and playful. She is very excited when playing and can quickly turn to being assertive but she is learning to play nice. We are impressed how much she has adjusted in this short amount of time.

Jayda loves having a job. We took her to stable with us and she did well. We have her on a leash when being away from home and are working on recall. She is willing and eager to please. She also loves meeting and greeting people.

We still need to work on the kennel being a good place to be. Don't get us wrong, she is ok in the kennel but it takes a little bit of time for her settle down. We are hoping she will seek it out on her own soon to take naps or when she needs a time out.

The other thing we feel she needs work in is leash walking. We find that she does pull. Scott has taken her on some walks and feels that it will not take too much time for her to learn to walk without pulling.

Another Foster update:
We had a very good first week with Jayda. She is a sweet girl and we really like her. She actually seems to bring a little more balance to our little "pack" when they are all together; our male shepherd seems a little less feisty with her around.  ;-) There have been a couple times when we had to intervene when she and one of our other female shepherds got into it a little bit but that is to be expected. It happens only when we are outside with them and playing around. When we are not playing everything is fine. This is something we are working on. When we are not around there have been no issues.

We have brought her out to our boarding stable and had her with us while doing some chores and have taken her on some long walks on our horse trails with our dogs. I think she enjoys going out there. She is always eager to get her collar and coat on when we start to get ready to go. She is always on a leash when outdoors but gets to run free in our fenced in backyard with the other dogs.
She likes the food she is getting and is maintaining her weight.

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
