Description:

Hi! My name is Paloma but my foster family calls me Polly and they say I’m the best dog!

I currently live with my foster family’s two resident dogs as well as two cats although my foster mom says we are “working” on my interactions with the cats. It’s not that I want to hurt them, I’m just a little too interested in what they are up to and so I should probably go to a home that is cat-free or that is willing to work on teaching me to properly interact with or, even better, ignore cats.

I LOVE playing with dogs and my foster brother and I love to get outside and chase each other around the yard before we start a fun game of wrestling. Even though I’m much larger than my foster brother, I know how to adjust my play so that I don’t hurt him.  My mom thinks it’s really cute when I pick up a toy in the house and roll around with it to try to entice my brothers to play.  Sometimes I’ll even bring the toy over to them while they are napping and drop it on them so they know that I REALLY want to play! I can get a bit mouthy when I play with my humans but I’m learning that they stop playing with me when that happens so I’m improving every day!

I am pretty good about not jumping on people when I get excited and I just need a gentle reminder during those times that my energy gets the best of me.  I am very athletic and would love to learn a dog sport with you such as treibball, disc, or agility! I’ve got lots of playful energy but I also enjoy a good cuddle session with my foster parents.

I love new people and light up when I see kids but my family doesn’t have any kids so I haven’t gotten to meet any yet. I come to my name when called and my foster family has started working with me on a long line to practice my attention when they aren’t right next to me. My mom says I am VERY smart and I already know sit and I’m working on other fun obedience tricks like “Watch me,” “Lay down” and “Stay.” I am very treat-motivated during training sessions and if you have treats I’ll even ignore other dogs and people that are around. My mom says that’s pretty impressive, I say it’s smart because I get lots of treats! I am crate and housetrained but I’m not destructive and could likely be trusted to have roam of the house if there were no cats to chase!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
