Dear Jack, I will miss you so very much. Thank you for coming into our lives. Your mama picked you because you were so beautiful and showed you were smart. You were a special wedding gift to your daddy, our future police officer. You scared us with your strange habit of picking up ALL small dogs like they were your puppy. The small dog owners just could not understand that your massive mouth was not hurting their brainless twit of a dog. Your mama protected you from that stupid woman that hit you on the head. What a stupid person to hit a huge German Shepherd on the head. Your mama protected you, sure she had to tackle you to the ground and lay on top of you, but the woman and her stupid little dog left. You had such a tender heart and this sense of when to be gentle. Thank you for your concern to my Trooper. You knew he was hurt before he even moved. Just a sniff and then you went and cried to mama to tell her to do SOMETHING. You could be running full bore in my yard and stop as soon as you saw Trooper. You did not want to hurt him. Thank you for protecting my family and home when you visited. You made sure you laid down where you could see both doors. You also thought I was sleeping when you made your nightly rounds to make sure we humans were all in bed where we were supposed to be. I will never forget the very human expression you gave me when I stepped on the treadmill for the hour long walk. It was clearly, "What the H-- are you doing on that thing... GET OFF!! but I did not get off, so you proceeded to lie down and stare at my feet until I was done. Thank you for your help on your mama and daddy's wedding day. No one knew.... My back was trying to go out when you stepped into my room and let me lean on you for quite a while. It was just what I needed to relax the back spasms and enjoy the best day ever!! When you visited me, you never were more than arms length from me. Now I am no longer afraid of Shepherds and knew this was the kind of service dog for me. Your presence in my life will eventually give back soo much freedom I have lost in the last 9 years. Thank you Jack. Say hi to Great Grandpa. Gramma Kelly C. I wanted to tell you about the freedom I've had & the amazing life Dobby had. I came to MARS shortly after euthanizing my beloved Boomer. There I met Jedi. Renamed as Dobby because he looked similar to Dobby from Harry Potter and he was "a free dog". He also had a full on "big dog" attitude. Within a few days, Dobby started alerting to my blood glucose changes. With additional training he lived his life as a diabetic alert service dog. Affording me and my kids peace of mind. We traveled by train, planes, automobiles, kayaks and even cruise ships. He was the best traveler! Even though he couldn't swim, he loved being in the water! (He had a life jacket) He developed a collapsing trachea recently. Also some severe pain at the end. Sunday 11-17-24 Dobby crossed the rainbow bridge. Attached are a few pictures of our lives together. Even meeting a few celebrities. Thank you for all you do and for providing me with the best doggo ever! Unfortunately our sweet Dora did not make it. She will be missed. This is sweet Dora's story: Meet Sweet Dora!!! Dora is a beautiful, 'mature' girl who is looking for a new home to call her own. She was picked up as a stray, and no one came to claim her from the pound. Poor girl!!! She is a very well behaved german shepherd. She gets along with all dogs, (even a fiesty little chihuahua at her foster home), and is no problem with cats. She rides very nicely in the car, is house trained, and has good indoor manners. She can even be left with free roam of the house when no one is home. Please consider giving this affectionate, well mannered girl a new home. She still has lots of life and love to give!!! Duke On Nov. 30, 2013, we took in a dog named Duke as our foster boy. He was just 5 years old. We found out a few days after we took him in that he had cancer, so we loved him and cared for him and gave him the best life we could. Every morning when we got up, he would run to me to get a quick morning pet. He just loved the blow dryer after he got his bath. If he heard the leash come out, he'd come a' running. He was just sure it was time for a walk or to go somewhere. Duke was a cuddle bug; he'd lay like a baby in our arms. When I took pictures, he would get in front of the camera and pose, blocking what or who I was trying to take a picture of, he always wanted his photo taken too. Such a happy boy! He was always happy and energetic and you would never know he was sick. Then the last week things changed and he had less appetite, was not as energetic and he was not such a happy boy anymore. Today, March 19, 2014, nothing was right, so it was time. How we will miss sweet little Dukie! We will always love him. He sure gave us lots of smiles and happiness for his short time with us.
