Cajun
Cajun - Just the sweetest dog ever!! Sweet little Cajun lost his fight against the ravages of distemper. This sweet boy is a testament as to why vaccinations are so important. Canine distemper is a contagious, incurable, often fatal, multisystemic viral disease that affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous systems. Distemper is caused by the canine distemper virus (CDV). Our sweet boy did not have a fighting chance. We will miss you Cajun! This is CAJUN's story. He came to us all the way from GA. He was saved from the gas chamber on his last day. Cajun was so sad, so utterly petrified in his kennel at the shelter- that we were desperate to get him into a great home- so he could finally be given the love and attention he had gone without for so long! Cajun was a relaxed boy with a calm nature. This little sweetheart was a favorite at the shelter. He had warm brown eyes that seem to smile at you and a gentle tail wag for everybody. He pranced like a SHOW DOG when he walked- every step was so elegant! Cajun was between 6 and 7 months old. He had a very petite stature and was just as cute as can be. He spent his last days in a house full of love. He really was a wonderful boy.

Cassie
Sweet Cassie came to us with her puppies from a high kill shelter in the south. She and her pups loved the fenced back yard and loving foster home they were in. Cassie's life was shortened by darting out her door and unfortunately getting struck by a car. Her foster family and MARS are still grieving her sudden departure from this world, but know she is now free to romp and play and is happily waiting to see her pups and her foster mom someday over the bridge.

Chica
Chica`s Story Chica came into rescue in 2007,for some reason that I will never understand she couldn't find the right forever home or even foster until late 08 when she got a good foster who kept her until her adoption in Feb of 09. Her adopted Dad was a soldier who shortly after adopting her was re deployed to Afghanistan. That's when she found by Christie & Dallas who were going to keep her overnight then take her to a previous foster,who decided it wasn't convenient to take her. Christie & Dallas kept her as a foster with their family which included 2 Dogs of their own & 1 other foster Dog. Chica's adopted dad called me on 7/24/09,he was on leave & wanted to see her & said "I definitely want her back" He said "I`ll never give up on my dog. I haven't heard from him since even after many attempts to contact him & his Mom. Chica developed what I believe was a brain issue that caused unpredictable behavior which we fought for several months. Chica was with her hero Christie & I when she was sent to the Rainbow Bridge Thursdsay 10/29/09. All I can say from the heart is Sorry Chica we tried. Love ya & miss Ya.

Chips
Chips ID # 2613: In 2010, we found ourselves visiting MARS daily “just looking”. Our “just looking” quickly turned into excitement as we found ourselves drawn to one special little girl … a Shepherd/Sheltie mix named Chips. We completed and submitted the application, went camping … not expecting to hear anything right away. While driving home from camping, we received a call from Heather Hamann, Chips’ AWESOME foster mom. Heather was going away for a week and wondered if we wanted to test things out with Chips and our resident dog, Bear, for the week she would be out of town. We said yes! That’s the day our lives changed forever. Heather pulled her car up to our house and out jumped this precious little girl and we instantly fell in love. For the next two years, Chipsie quickly worked her way deep into our hearts and the hearts of everyone who met her. She enjoyed camping, hiking, walking the lakes, lounging on the couch, sleeping on our heads during scary thunderstorms, and lounging in the backyard curled up like a cinnamon roll. While we enjoyed so many wonderful times together … we are so very heartbroken feeling there should have been so many more camping trips, walks in the park, naps on the lawn, etc. Chips crossed the Rainbow Bridge Monday morning, September 10, 2012 after a brief, but progressive illness. That’s the day our lives changed forever. We don’t cry for Chips. We know she’s comfortable, trotting and smiling … and, not in any kind of pain. We cry because we can’t get our heads around ‘life without our little girl’. A friend shared the following quote, “Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened.”--Dr. Seuss I know we’ll get there. We will smile, but for now … sadness fills our hearts.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Tues, Dec 16, 2008. She was a beautiful girl who was living at the pound, hoping we could find her a new forever home. Unfortunately, before we got her out, the same bug that got Ginger, made it's way around the pound, sickening most of the dogs. Cinnamon tried to beat the bug, but it was too strong, she was unable to recover and crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
