Our Angel Grandma Gabby - Here I adopted a rescue dog thinking it would be a neat charity for my kids who have had their struggles in life. My kids, who themselves are waiting to be adopted. Kids who have been through unspeakable acts of neglect and thanks to Gabby have overcome adversity and struggles that many people said could never happen. When I brought Gabby home, little did I know, this dark eyed lady was going to teach us so much in such a short time. Compassion was Gabby’s ultimate lesson to the children. For one little boy who lived in unimaginable filth, experienced unconscionable neglect, abuse, lack of food and love, Gabby’s lesson was most powerful. She assisted him in making sure her bed was straightened out every afternoon. This boy, who grew up not being fed every day himself, made sure grandma Gabby had her food and water every morning and a pat on her head before he left for school. This little boy had almost no animal privileges for two years before Gabby and was only allowed to be around animals under the highest supervision. However, since the gentle browned eyed girl we so affectionately called Grandma Gabby moved in, he has not lost any privileges. He has also learned to accept touch from people. Gabby you will be so missed but your compassion will live on through this boy who looked at the world as though everything was cruel and he was never to feel or to trust. What an amazing thing you have taught this diverse family of awaiting children. Grandma Gabby, your legacy of compassion will live on through these kids. I thank you, we all thank you. A few weeks ago I picked up my new foster, the most Beautiful little girl inside & out!! I named her Gigi, She was such a good little girl! almost a week later we found out Gigi had mast cell cancer, we were hoping she had a few years left. but God called my sweet little baby home! & she left peacefully from my arms to Gods, were she is receiving the most amazing Love & care! & Gigi is not sick any more! she is running & playing with all the other animals, & I know when its my time to go home that Gigi will come running over the Rainbow Bridge to meet me! I Love you Gigi! your foster mom Susan Ginger suddenly got very ill while she was still living at the pound. We had been working to get her in to a foster home before her sudden illness. Unfortunately, Ginger did not recover, and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Dec 10, 2008. She was a very happy puppy and loved to play with toys and play with treats! She had a lot of impact in her short time on this planet. Gracie (2009-July 2023) Gracie came to us as a rescue pup, and was she ever a spitfire! It took us awhile to understand what she was trying to tell us: I need daily dog park outings, and I need consistency and structure in my schedule. As a mix of border collie and husky, Gracie was brilliant and stubborn and loved to be busy. She was the best herding dog ever, always aware of where each of us was in the house and always with a strong instinct to herd us into the same room, where she could then relax and be at ease. Gracie loved to run. She always knew that when she jumped into the car we were going to the Dog Park. Oh, how she loved to run free there. Some called her the Queen of the Dog Park because of her bossy-pants behaviors- she did seem to take charge when activity got out of line. Gracie’s energy seemed never-ending: she loved a good tug-of-war. She had a brief career in skijoring, honoring her husky ancestry in her love of winter and snow and cold. In her younger days, she loved to jump, leaping to the high bounce of her squeaky ball. She loved her morning walks, that daily ritual of new scents and surprising creature visitations (squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies, raccoons, deer, turkeys, coyote, fox). Oh, how Gracie loved food. She scouted out specific Little Free Libraries, not because they might have a preferred book to take home, but because these LFL’s also had treats. Oh happy day: treats. She loved our mail deliverer Bruce because of what he always had in his pockets: treats. She would sit so prettily, all aquiver with expectation, and quite happily crunch whatever she was given. Gracie tore apart her favorite stuffed animals, removing all the stuffing carefully, and played with the flattened carcasses with joy. Her very favorite, Tiger, ended up in multiple pieces but a good portion of his body still survives, and will be buried with Gracie’s ashes. Gracie was a talker, not shy about vocalizing her wants and needs. She could tell time- specifically, an hour before mealtime, she would begin the vocalizations and nudges toward being fed. She knew when someone was due home and vigilantly kept watch for their arrival. Gracie loved us completely without question or hesitation. In return, we loved her completely, and created a safe home for her, companioning her as best we could through scary fireworks and thunderstorms, and giving her all our attention and oodles of TLC. Gracie filled our home with her presence, and we miss her terribly. Guinea Pig left his family far too soon. Although his life was short he knew nothing but love for the time he was here. He was born into rescue and spent his first two months in the loving home of his foster family growing and playing with his siblings. He was adopted by a wonderful family and named Henry. The remainder of his time was spent knowing the miracle of a loving and devoted family. He passed in the protective and loving arms of his Mom. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
